2021 marked the second year of drought in Napa Valley and the season started with a dry winter and little rain. Bud break came early, as did both flowering and veraison. The result was smaller, thicker skinned berries with reduced yields by up to 30% at some locations, though not at Lamborn. This growing season was rated an “A” as an exceptional vintage with wines showcasing concentration, freshness, and intensity.
 

Winemaker Heidi Barrett’s tasting notes: "A dark yet vibrant crimson red in color, the aromas of this Cabernet/Zinfandel blend showcase boysenberry, forest fruit, pomegranate, chocolate, and brown sugar, all supported by light toasted oak. Similar to the nose, a dense and chewy mouthfeel offers additional notes of blackberry, cherry, and plum. With slight vanilla in the background, the French and American Oak regimen contributes additional layers of complexity to this captivating wine."
